Vodafone New Zealand has lost 50,000 customers through out the country, according to the company's second quarter results.
The telco giant announced a customer fall count of 50,000 to 2.32 million in figures released by its UK parent, but continues to hold a strong lead over rival firms.
Slipping by 100,000 in the past year, Vodafone's total mobile connections across the country have been on a steady decline, despite the firm holding nearly 50% of the Kiwi market.
Leading the way with 46.96% (2.32 million) of total mobile connections in New Zealand, Telecom remains the closer competitor at 31.78% (1.57 million) of the market share, ahead of 2degrees and TelstraClear at 20.24% (1 million) and 1.01% (50,000) respectively.
The company completed its acquisition of TelstraClear for a cash consideration of $840 million late last month, with CEO Russell Stanners saying at the time:
“We can now start bringing the businesses together and releasing the potential for our customers,” says Russell Stanners, Vodafone NZ CEO.
“Our combined strength in both mobile and broadband means we can help our customers do their thing better – whether that’s mobile services, broadband, pay TV or sophisticated ICT services across New Zealand.
“Vodafone and TelstraClear are now one business, operating as separate business units, with a strong focus on continuing to deliver a great experience to Vodafone and TelstraClear customers.”
